High quality Professional and Clinical Supervision is a game-changer. It is foundational to the quality of clinical services our clients receive, supports our valued health professionals, and our workplaces in terms of optomising professional learning, support, accountability, and staff retention.

Michelle is thrilled to see many workplaces investing heavily in:

  1. the development of supervision skills for both supervisor and supervisee

  2. committing to build the learning culture and level of psychological safety

  3. the creation of supervision policies and procedures that support best practice supervision.

As a result, we are delighted to see the increased uptake of Michelle’s training programs and have recognised that offering courses online has made her programs far more accessible to health professionals across Australia and beyond.

With this in mind, we're considering expanding our supervision offerings to further support those professionals and workplaces highly committed to investing in best practice supervision. We have observed two unmet needs that we believe would really help accelerate the update and integration of high quality supervision.

1.Supervision Community of Practice

Firstly, an online supervision community of practice is in the planning stages. It will be a platform where people can find resources, have conversations with other supervisors, post questions, get access to regular webinars and training sessions by Michelle and her colleagues, plus regular 'ask me (Michelle) anything' sessions.

Currently, we are reviewing and testing available technology as it develops to meet these needs.

2. Self-paced online training - Empowered Learner, Energised Employee

Secondly, the challenges that leaders are inquiring about is how to assist their employees to be both self-directed learners and empowered employees. We are developing a new online program titled ‘Empowered Leader, Energised Employee’ How to optimise your supervisory experience and build confidence.

We estimate the content would take 6-8 hours to complete and the content would include:

  • how to support staff to be more self-directed in their learning

  • how to get the most out of their supervision sessions

  • understand how to prepare for supervision

  • how to be more proactive and confident in their communication skills

  • how to enhance their personal and interpersonal skills.

Our proposed response to this is to offer an online self-paced program that is available on an as needed basis. Participants will be able to sign up individually or organisations can sign up for packages for a group of staff.

As a highly valued colleague of Michelle, we are keen to have your input as to the need and appetite for these two proposed learning tools.
